In addition to central IT, specialised research and service offerings result in autonomous areas with independent IT operations.
Using VulnDex, findings from CVE watchlists, SBOM monitoring or in-house scans are directly assigned to the relevant teams within the university. The central security team receives a comprehensive overview of assessments and processing statuses across research, teaching and administration.
Self-managing teams & the big picture
Autonomous IT teams can organize their own areas in a structured manner and manage them independently. At the same time, the central security team has a university-wide overview of all assessments and their current status. Access is granted via single sign-on with role-based permissions within the platform.
Shared data hub
Autonomous teams can also independently configure CVE watchlists, import SBOM files, roll out beacons or upload findings from their own vulnerability scans. All stakeholders work from a shared database. The central security team can use information from Vulnerability Intelligence to identify university-wide priorities.
Automatic assignment
Based on the teams and structures shown, new detections can be automatically assigned to the correct teams. This reduces the need for manual coordination and research, and enables a more efficient use of resources.

With their autonomous teams, universities often have a large number of IT systems that are accessible to the public. The structured mapping of their digital footprint provides a university-wide overview of the areas at risk.
